“Thank you,” she murmurs with tired gratitude.
“You’re welcome.”
“I’ll go. I just need a moment.”
I sit down on the bed. “There’s no rush. I don’t have to leave for another half hour.”
Her eyes close. The poor thing; she’s exhausted. For some reason, I get the sense it isn’t just because of our sexual activities. She did seem stressed before….
“Hop in the shower with me?” I suggest, stroking her hair back from her face.
She opens her eyes, and suspicion is evident. “A shower?”
“Yeah.” I grin with a shrug. “The act of being underneath a spray of water used to clean oneself?”
“Smart-arse,” she grunts with a smile. “Um… Okay.”
Charlie sits up and takes my offered hand. I lead the way and get the hot water started. She seems timid; maybe she isn’t used to too much interaction with a guy after the sex is over. Mind you, I don’t usually make a habit of dragging these things out. But Charlie is different. The attraction I have for her is completely new for me. Without even knowing her at all, there is still a sense of connection. At least, for me there is.
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. This book is set in Australia and written in Australian English and there is a handy glossary of terms for the reader, so we know what we're reading about! I wish more authors wold include this. To quote " I was Bloody thankful for it!" I loved the characters in this book, they were written with lots of personality. Charlie (Charlotte) is a single mother, and is taking a computer course in business administration, works in a cafe to make ends meet. Rosie her best friend watches baby Lucus, so Charlie can go out for the evening and have some fun, which she rarely gets to do. There at a club she meets Brad a lawyer, and one thing leads to another and Brad takes her home with him. After what she thought was the one night stand of a lifetime she leaves, but wishes it could have been more. They keep bumping into each other at the club and Brad also wants an exclusive relationship with Charlie too.
This story was smooth and easy gong and a joy to read. The back stories for the characters made for a nice relaxing read, and jived with the present day of the characters, sometimes that is hard to do.This would be a good book for the beach or a relaxing weekend, no bad vibes or people hurting other people. I'd give it a 5 out of a 10 on the sizzle rating, so not erotica, just a good solid romance. I read and reviewed this book as a member of the Mommy's Naughty Playground Review Team.
